Chicago Air Quality Services

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the air quality inside the average home is up to five times more polluted than the air outside. Results from in-home air tests across North America support this government finding. Nearly every home (96%) had at least one indoor air quality problem.

Air-purification systems attached to the furnace or air handler, where contaminants are removed and destroyed before air is recirculated into the home, will greatly reduce the health dangers.

Electronic Air Cleaners

The electronic air cleaner is designed to remove atmospheric and household dust, pollen, mold spores, bacteria, insecticide, dust, animal dander, coal dust, cooking smoke and grease, and tobacco smoke particles down to 0.01 micron. First the pre-filter removes all large visible particles such as lint or hair. Then the electronic air cleaner ionizes the particles in the air (the particles are given a strong positive electrical charge). The particles are then attracted to grounded plates and collected. Pollutants are held onto the plates like a magnet until cleaning when they are washed away. Optional carbon filter(s) then remove the odors from the air. Correct installation and routine maintenance of your electronic air cleaner is critical for proper performance and efficiency.

UV Germicidal Lamps

Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses ultraviolet (UV) light at sufficiently short wavelength to kill microorganisms. It is used in a variety of applications, such as food, air and water purification. UVGI utilizes short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation (UV-C) that is harmful to microorganisms. A UVGI system is designed to expose environments such as water tanks, sealed rooms and forced air systems to germicidal UV. Exposure comes from germicidal lamps that emit germicidal UV electromagnetic radiation at the correct wavelength, thus irradiating the environment. The forced flow of air or water through this environment ensures the exposure.

Humidifiers

When it comes to feeling comfortable in your home, the old saying “it’s not the heat (or cold) – it’s the humidity” rings true. Other than ambient temperature, nothing affects a body’s perception of comfort more than the humidity level. And there’s a fairly narrow range between what is considered “too much” and “too little” of it. During the wintertime and in hot, dry climates, the air inside your home can feel as dry and parched as the desert. That’s why adding moisture to your indoor air can greatly improve your comfort. It’s also beneficial in other ways. For example, you may be experiencing dry skin and hair, chapped lips, or even itchy eyes and nasal passages. And, your home’s furnishings may be suffering, as well. Dry air absorbs moisture from furniture, wood floors, woodwork, paintings and musical instruments. I needed the ac unit moved for concrete work. The guys came and advised me of the options. I ended up asking them to move the unit to the side of the house and they did an amazing job. They cleaned the unit and installed it off the ground to prolong the life of the equipment. The guys were Very professional.
